Find the assigned testing room on test days

When to use this goal

For students who take tests in a separate room as an accommodation but go to the usual class or wait to be collected on testing days. Present levels in reading a schedule and finding rooms decide fit. The accommodation itself is in the IEP; this goal covers getting there.

Baseline
Record 6 separate-setting tests: did the student arrive at the right room on time with materials without being collected. Unit tests give more data than state testing windows.
Tips
Make the testing card the week before. Ask teachers to give the separate-setting test in the same room each time. Practice the route on a non-test day.
Limits
Does not measure test performance or the use of other accommodations. State testing gives few opportunities.

Criterion

Number of opportunities in which the behavior is demonstrated, out of a fixed number.

Sample numbers. Replace them with the student's data.

Criterion wording

Data collection

An adult observes and records the defined behavior during a specified activity.

How often data are collected

How many measurements must meet the criterion.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, on a state or district testing day, given a testing schedule card with the room number, the student will go to the assigned testing room at the listed time with the needed materials independently in at least 5 of 6 opportunities, across 2 consecutive testing windows, as measured by direct observation collected at each test given in a separate setting.

Baseline: 1 of 6 opportunities.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Direct observation gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about School-Related Independence.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.

Short-term objectives (optional)

When are objectives required?

Required for students on alternate assessments (34 CFR §300.320(a)(2)(ii)); some states require them for everyone.
