Tell an adult about wet or soiled clothes
When to use this goal
For young students who have accidents and continue playing in wet or soiled clothing without telling anyone. Present levels and family report decide fit. Telling an adult is a step toward body awareness and toward asking before an accident.
- Baseline
- For two weeks, record each accident, the time, and whether the student told an adult, was found by an adult, or was noticed by a peer. Ask the family what the student does at home after an accident. Keep the data sheet in a closed folder or on a coded log, never posted where peers or visitors can see it, and agree with the family on the words used for body parts and the routine.
- Tips
- Thank the student every time they tell, in a calm voice, and help them change without comment. Never scold an accident; telling is the skill, and a penalty teaches hiding. Count each accident as one opportunity, scored as told within a few minutes or not.
- Limits
- Accidents are unpredictable, so the number of opportunities per week varies; use the weekly review to judge progress. The goal is about telling, not about having fewer accidents; that comes from the schedule and request goals.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
