Fold laundry at a hotel or laundry pace

9-12Rate (per minute)TemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For students in hotel, gym or laundry placements who fold towels and linens to standard but slower than the site needs. Accuracy must be high first; present levels in motor skills decide the setup.

Baseline
Time 3 samples and count only towels that meet the standard. Ask the supervisor for the expected rate, or time a staff member.
Tips
Graph the rate with the student. A standing or seated station is fine if the site allows it. Hotels and gyms often hire for laundry roles.
Limits
Linen type changes the rate. Pushing pace too early can raise errors.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during a laundry shift, given a bin of clean towels and a 10-minute timed work sample (total divided by 10 for the per-minute rate), the student will fold towels to the site's standard and stack them during the timed sample independently at a rate of at least 4 towels folded to standard per minute, on 3 consecutive weekly timed samples, as measured by timed probes collected weekly.

Baseline: 2 towels folded to standard per minute.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Rate (per minute) fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Timed probes gives rate (per minute) data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Vocational & Work Readiness.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
