Stand in the named place in line
When to use this goal
For young students who line up daily but cannot find or name their place when it is given as first, second, third and so on. Present levels in ordinal words and counting, not age, decide fit.
- Baseline
- Record five line-ups over a week: the place named and where the student went. First and last are usually known; second and third often lag.
- Tips
- Line-up happens many times a day, so data come easily. Use the line leader job to practice first. Extend to tenth as the class grows.
- Limits
- Line-up can be busy; a quiet moment makes data more reliable. Does not measure ordinal positions in printed sequences.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, when the class lines up and an adult names the student's place from first to fifth, the student will move to the named place in line, counting from the front independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, on 4 of 5 consecutive school days, as measured by direct observation collected daily during line-up.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
