Name dice amounts during a board game
When to use this goal
For students who can name dot amounts on flash cards but count every dot during games, slowing play with peers. Present levels in subitizing to 6 on cards decide readiness.
- Baseline
- Record each turn as named at once, counted, or incorrect. Moving the right number of spaces is a separate count that can be added if moving is also a need.
- Tips
- Games give repeated, natural practice with peers. Dot dice can be replaced with numeral dice once dot patterns are steady.
- Limits
- The number of turns varies by game; stop data at 10 turns. Does not measure amounts above 6 on a single die.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, during a board game with one standard die played with 1 to 3 peers, the student will say or show how many dots were rolled without counting each dot, then move that many spaces independently in at least 8 of 10 opportunities, across 3 consecutive game sessions, as measured by direct observation collected weekly.
Baseline: 3 of 10 opportunities.

- Record up to 10 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
