Signal all done when finished eating

PK, K-2OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For young children who show fullness by pushing food away, leaving the table or getting upset, and who are fed or offered food after they have had enough. Communication levels decide the mode.

Baseline
For a week, record how each meal ends: all-done signal, pushing away, leaving, or adult-ended. Agree on one signal across home and school.
Tips
Honoring all done teaches the child that their body signals count, which supports healthy eating. Follow up with the clean-up routine or the next activity.
Limits
Food textures, liquid thickness, positioning for safe swallowing and any swallowing precautions come from the student's feeding or swallowing plan, which this goal never changes. Concerns about intake go to the family and medical team; staff do not keep feeding after the signal to reach an amount.

Criterion

Number of opportunities in which the behavior is demonstrated, out of a fixed number.

Sample numbers. Replace them with the student's data.

Data collection

Each occurrence of a clearly defined behavior is tallied during a fixed observation period.

How often data are collected

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during snack or lunch, when the student has had enough, the student will sign, say or touch the all-done symbol and push the plate or bowl to the side with no adult prompts in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, on 4 of 5 observed days, as measured by frequency recording collected daily at snack and lunch.

Baseline: 1 of 5 opportunities.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Frequency (event) recording gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Feeding & Mealtime Skills.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
