Float on the back without support
When to use this goal
For students in a swim program who sink, grab for the wall, or panic when on their back, a key water safety skill. Fit depends on a pool trial, not grade. The instructor must be within arm's reach.
- Baseline
- Time three floats and use the best. Note fear signs; calm breathing practice may come first.
- Tips
- Back floating lets a swimmer rest and breathe, which matters for safety. Families often value this skill most.
- Limits
- Never a substitute for supervision around water. Some body types float differently; adjust the target.
