Use an early pass to avoid hallway crowds

6-8OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For middle school students who find crowded, loud passing time overwhelming and arrive at class upset or late. Fits when an early release pass is in the plan and the student wants to use it.

Baseline
Watch six class changes, noting whether the student used the pass, left with the crowd or arrived late. Ask the student which passing times are hardest.
Tips
The pass is an accommodation and not tied to behavior. Teachers should not hold the student back to finish work.
Limits
Leaving early may cost the end of the lesson; plan with teachers for what the student misses.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, near the end of each class period, at the time the early pass allows, the student will use the early pass at the agreed time, pack up and walk to the next class before the hallway fills with no adult prompts in at least 5 of 6 opportunities, across 3 consecutive weeks, as measured by direct observation collected on six class changes a week.

Baseline: 1 of 6 opportunities.
