Decodable words in a peer board game
When to use this goal
For young students who decode words with an adult but rush or guess in games with peers. Games give lots of practice; reading every card carefully is the target. Present levels decide the word set.
- Baseline
- Observe the first 10 turns. Compare with accuracy on the same words with an adult; a gap points to rushing in play.
- Tips
- Teach the game with familiar words first. Students who use AAC can say words with their device or pick the matching picture.
- Limits
- Peers vary in how they check. Card sets repeat.

- Record up to 10 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
