Notice when a peer wants a turn
When to use this goal
For young students who play with shared materials without noticing a peer waiting, reaching, or asking. Present levels decide fit. The goal is noticing and responding; sharing routines belong in play-social-participation.
- Baseline
- Record 6 moments when a peer signals for a turn and whether the student responds in any way. Note what kind of signal the student picks up on (words, reaching, waiting).
- Tips
- "In a minute" is a valid response; the goal is noticing and answering, not always giving up the item. Teach peers to use words as well as waiting, since many students notice words more easily.
- Limits
- Peer signals vary; coach the peers. The goal does not count sharing length or fairness.

- Record up to 6 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
