Move an online argument to a private or in-person talk

9-12, 6-8OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For older students whose disagreements play out in public comments or group chats and draw in others. Present levels, not grade, decide fit.

Baseline
With the student's permission, review how recent online disagreements went. Run two role-plays. Record whether the student posts again publicly, goes quiet, or moves the talk to a private space.
Tips
The step counted is moving the talk out of public view; the conversation that follows can be measured with se-cr-001 or se-cr-011. Bringing in an adult also counts.
Limits
Public spaces outside school are not observed. Threats or harassment should not be moved to a private talk; they go to an adult.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, when a disagreement starts in a class chat, shared document comments, or a school discussion platform, the student will stop posting publicly and send a private message or ask in person to talk the disagreement through independently in at least 3 of 4 opportunities, across 2 consecutive months, as measured by direct observation collected when disagreements occur, plus biweekly role-play.

Baseline: 0 of 4 opportunities.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Direct observation gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Conflict Resolution.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
