Pass a requested item to a peer at snack
When to use this goal
For preschoolers who serve themselves or wait for an adult but do not yet respond to a classmate's request at the table. Present levels, motor access, and current response to peers decide fit. A request from the peer can be spoken, signed, or a reach paired with a word.
- Baseline
- Set up 5 peer requests across a few snack times by seating peers so items are near the student. Record whether the student passed the item, passed it after an adult cue, or did not respond. Note whether the student responds more to some peers than others.
- Tips
- Score an opportunity when a peer clearly asks the student for an item in reach. A pass within about 10 seconds counts. If the student is still eating or using the item, saying or signing "wait" or "after me" also counts. Use family-style serving often so requests happen naturally.
- Limits
- Natural requests vary by seating and by peer; planned requests keep the count steady. Motor needs may require adapted cups or a lazy Susan. The goal does not measure sharing preferred toys, which is harder.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
