Show a peer something they built or made

K-2, PKOpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For young students who make things during play or art but show only adults or no one. Showing a peer invites a response and often leads to shared play. Base the choice on observation at centers. Showing can be holding it up, bringing it over, pointing, saying, or a device message.

Baseline
Over a week, record each time the student finishes making something and whether they showed a peer, an adult, or no one. Note which peers are nearby and which creations the student is most proud of.
Tips
Each finished creation with a peer nearby is an opportunity. Score correct when the student shows a peer in any mode. Coach peers to respond with a comment. Keeping something private is the student's right; do not push sharing of every item.
Limits
Opportunities depend on center activities; art and building centers create the most. The goal does not measure what happens after the peer responds.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during centers or art when they finish building, drawing, or making something and a peer is nearby, the student will show a peer what they made by holding it up, bringing it over, pointing, saying, signing, or selecting a message on their device independently in at least 3 of 4 opportunities, across 3 consecutive weeks, as measured by direct observation collected weekly.
