End a friendship or relationship safely
When to use this goal
For older students who want to end a friendship or dating relationship but do not know how, or who stay because they fear the reaction. Present levels decide fit. Planning happens with the counselor.
- Baseline
- Run one planning scenario and mark each step. Ask the student about their past experiences only if they want to share.
- Tips
- If the relationship is abusive, follow school safety procedures and refer for support; this plan is not enough.
- Limits
- The IEP goal is not a safety plan. Endings can be emotional; check in afterward.
