Hold up a help card on camera during online lessons
When to use this goal
For young students in online lessons or remote services who cannot yet use chat or platform buttons. Present levels in communication and device access decide fit. A help card held up to the camera, a sign, or a spoken "help" all count; a family member may set up the device but the request is the student's.
- Baseline
- During 3 online lessons, note moments the student looked lost, stopped working, or wandered off camera and whether they asked. Talk with the family about the device setup and where the help card can stay.
- Tips
- An opportunity is a moment the student clearly needs help. Score correct when the student shows the card, signs, or says help without the teacher asking first. Respond quickly. Camera off is fine if the student uses a spoken or chat signal instead.
- Limits
- Opportunities depend on what the teacher can see on screen. Family help at home changes the data; note who was there.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
