Tell the teacher whether a support helped
When to use this goal
For students who use supports without ever reporting on them, so adults guess what is working. Present levels, not grade, decide fit. A thumbs or number scale works for students who prefer not to explain at length.
- Baseline
- After five lessons with a support, ask the student to rate it and say why. Record whether they give a rating, a reason, both, or decline.
- Tips
- Act on the feedback: if the student says a support does not help, review it with them. That shows the student their voice changes things.
- Limits
- Ratings show the student's view, which may differ from performance data; both matter. Students may give every support the same rating to finish quickly, so ask for the reason.

Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.
Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.
Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.
Met: Method produces the metric. Opportunity (trial) recording gives opportunities data.
Met: Review timeframe. Stated.
Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.
Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Self-Advocacy.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
