Answer tell me about yourself with interests
When to use this goal
For high school students who freeze or say "nothing" when a new adult, a coach, or an interviewer asks them to talk about themselves. Present levels decide fit, not grade. Keep the focus on interests and strengths; explaining support needs belongs in self-advocacy goals.
- Baseline
- Run 2 practice asks and note what the student says, how long they talk, and whether they name interests, strengths, or neither. Ask staff who meet the student whether this comes up in real life. Score only what the student says, writes, signs, or does; never use a self-esteem rating or a mood scale as the criterion.
- Tips
- Plan real opportunities: a new coach, a job shadow, a club sign-up. The student chooses what to share. Spoken, signed, and device answers all count.
- Limits
- Counts short answers in planned moments. It does not capture longer conversations, and an interview answer alone does not show readiness for a job interview.

- Record up to 4 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
