Answer story wh- questions on the device
When to use this goal
For students who listen to stories in class and whose comprehension is hard to measure because questions are usually asked as yes/no. Answering who, what, and where questions on the device shows what they took in. Base the choice on receptive language data and device vocabulary.
- Baseline
- Ask 10 questions after two stories, one with a story page and one without. Score correct answers and note whether errors came from not finding the word or not knowing the answer. Give generous wait time.
- Tips
- Score correct when the device answer matches the story. A correct answer by pointing to the book also shows comprehension; note it. Program story pages for class texts ahead of time so the student can answer with classmates.
- Limits
- Errors can come from vocabulary access, not comprehension; the story page helps separate them. This goal does not cover why or how questions.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, after a shared reading of a short picture book, given 10 who, what, and where questions, the student will answer each who, what, or where question with a word or phrase on the device independently with at least 80% accuracy on story wh- questions answered on the device, across 3 consecutive weekly probes, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected weekly.
Baseline: 30% accuracy.

Met: Condition. Stated.
Met: Unit fits the behavior. Percent accuracy fits this behavior.
Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.
Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.
Met: Method produces the metric. Opportunity (trial) recording gives percent accuracy data.
Met: Review timeframe. Stated.
Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.
Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about AAC & Augmentative Communication.
Met: Level of support. Defined.

- Score only items the student attempted unless the goal defines a fixed set of items. Use the same denominator every session.
- Percent = numerator ÷ denominator × 100. Round to one decimal place.
- Record the support actually provided, even if the goal is independent performance.
