Lead a small-group discussion as facilitator
When to use this goal
For high school students who have the basic discussion moves and want, or are expected, to lead group work in class, clubs, or a job program. Base the choice on the student's goals and observation. The rubric covers the facilitator's moves, not speaking style.
- Baseline
- Score one or two facilitated discussions on the rubric before setting the target. Note which rows are missing. Ask the student and the teacher where they will lead groups this year.
- Tips
- Score each row 0 (absent) to 3 (complete without prompts). Inviting may be done by name, by passing a talking object, or by a round in the chat. Do not score voice, posture, or eye contact.
- Limits
- Group members' cooperation affects scores. Leading is not a goal every student needs; keep it for students who want it or need it for a class or job.
