Share a news item during morning meeting

When to use this goal

For young students who pass during group sharing or share something unrelated to the sharing prompt. Base the choice on observation and family report. Sharing by speech, AAC, a photo with a recorded message, or sign all count.

Baseline
Record five sharing turns: shared on prompt, shared off prompt, or passed. Ask the family how the child tells about their day at home and in which language.
Tips
Each sharing turn offered is one opportunity. Passing is allowed in the class routine and is recorded but not counted against the student on days they say they do not want to share; agree on that rule with the student. Home-language sharing counts.
Limits
Sharing time may not happen daily. The goal measures one turn, not conversation. Pair with a family photo routine to make news easy to remember.
