Sort donations at a food bank

When to use this goal

For middle school students starting community volunteering, often with a class or family. Sorting by category and checking dates are the work; present levels decide fit, not grade.

Baseline
Check a sample of 20 sorted items at the end of 2 or 3 shifts. Follow the site's rules for what counts as past date.
Tips
Volunteering builds work skills and community ties. Ask the site supervisor to give feedback directly to the student.
Limits
Sites set their own categories; use theirs. Does not measure work stamina; add a duration goal if needed.

Original IEP Atlas template based on general measurement principles; not copied from any goal bank. ID tn-ca-012.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during a volunteer shift at a food bank or pantry, given a bin of mixed donations and labeled category boxes, the student will sort each donation into its category box and set aside items that are open or past date independently with at least 90% accuracy on donated items sorted, on 3 of 4 volunteer shifts, as measured by work-sample analysis collected at each volunteer shift.
