Recover from a missed bus or detour
When to use this goal
For students in travel training who ride routes well when everything goes to plan but freeze or wander when the bus is missed, late, or detoured. Fits before any solo travel; present levels decide fit, not grade.
- Baseline
- Real problems are irregular, so plan problem scenarios on familiar routes for the baseline. Score correct only when every backup step is done.
- Tips
- Backup steps keep the student safe, so the target is every opportunity. The what-if card names who to text and a safe place to wait at each stop.
- Limits
- Solo travel is a team and family decision based on data, the travel plan, and the student's safety skills; this goal does not decide it. Street crossing and stranger responses are covered by community-safety goals.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
