Compare two training paths for one career
When to use this goal
For high school students with a career interest that can be reached more than one way, such as an apprenticeship, a certificate program or a degree. Present levels in reading and comparison skills decide whether the facts are given or found by the student.
- Baseline
- Score one comparison with the chart only. Note which facts the student could not find; cost and entry requirements are often the hardest.
- Tips
- Include paid options such as apprenticeships and on-the-job training, not only college. The choice row is the student's; any choice with a real reason earns full credit. Share the chart with the family before course planning.
- Limits
- Program details change, so check facts each year. Comparing paths does not cover applying, which is in postsecondary-education goals.
