Write a career goal backed by exploration evidence
When to use this goal
For older high school students who have done several exploration activities and are ready to state a career direction based on them. Present levels in written expression decide whether the goal statement is written, typed or recorded.
- Baseline
- Score a draft before the portfolio review. Note whether evidence is cited or the goal simply repeats a long-held wish.
- Tips
- The statement informs the employment postsecondary goal, which must be based on age-appropriate transition assessment (34 CFR 300.320(b)). The student's words should appear in the transition plan where possible.
- Limits
- Career goals change; a new goal next year is normal. The rubric scores the use of evidence, not the choice.
