Wait in line and step up when called

6-8, 9-12OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For students who cut ahead, wander off or miss their turn in a bank, post office or library line. Present levels in waiting and listening for a cue, not grade, decide fit.

Baseline
On several trips, record whether the student joins the end of the line, keeps space and responds to the call. Note line length and wait time.
Tips
Score an opportunity when the student joins the end, waits and steps up at the call. Allow fidgets or music in an earbud if the student needs them to wait. Pair with tn-cs-016 so the student knows what to say at the window.
Limits
Long waits can be hard for anyone; choose quiet times for early trips. Does not measure the errand itself.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, in a line at a bank, post office or library on a community trip, the student will join the end of the line, keep a short space, watch or listen for their turn and step up when a clerk says next independently in at least 5 of 6 opportunities, across 3 consecutive data collection periods, as measured by direct observation collected at each community trip.
