Create a digital story with images and text
When to use this goal
For students who are more willing to compose on a device than on paper and who can use a slide or book-creation app with help. Present levels should show the student can type or dictate sentences; the target is a complete story told across digital pages with text that carries the story.
- Baseline
- Score one digital project or a short paper story, each row 0 to 3. Note how much of the story is in images and how much in words; many students let pictures carry everything at first. Record the tools used.
- Tips
- Digital tools can lower the barrier for students who find paper writing hard, but the rubric keeps attention on the words. Let students choose topics and images. Share finished stories with families or another class for a real audience.
- Limits
- App skills can hide or inflate writing skills; teach the app before scoring. Projects take several sessions, so data is monthly. The rubric does not score spelling or mechanics.
