Remind the teacher to turn on the microphone
When to use this goal
For young students whose teacher wears a remote microphone (such as a DM or FM transmitter) and sometimes forgets to turn it on or wear it. Present levels in self-advocacy and in noticing the signal decide fit.
- Baseline
- Plan five times when the teacher starts without the microphone and record whether the student notices and tells. Agree on the plan with the teacher ahead of time.
- Tips
- Thank the student every time; this is self-advocacy. Older students take over more of the remote microphone routine.
- Limits
- The goal does not make the student responsible for the teacher's use of equipment. Hearing technology is one access route the family and student chose; it does not replace sign language, captions, or other visual access where the student uses them.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
