Link printed words, fingerspelling, and signs

When to use this goal

For signing students in bilingual literacy instruction who are building links between printed English words, fingerspelling, and ASL signs. Present levels in each form decide fit.

Baseline
Probe 15 words from current reading and score each link (print to fingerspelling to sign) as complete or not.
Tips
This chaining supports reading for Deaf readers. Use words from real texts the class is reading.
Limits
Word links do not show sentence-level reading. ASL is a complete language; this template measures one access or language skill, and the student's broader language goals belong in expressive and receptive language with sign as the mode.

Original IEP Atlas template based on general measurement principles; not copied from any goal bank. ID ac-sig-016.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, given printed words from the class reading, one at a time, the student will read the printed word, fingerspell it, and give the ASL sign independently with at least 80% accuracy on word links completed, in 3 of 4 consecutive weekly probes, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected weekly.

Baseline: 35% accuracy.
