Study for a job certification practice test
When to use this goal
For transition-age students preparing for a food handler card, a driver's permit test, or a job training check who need a study method that fits their reading level. Practice items should be read aloud or simplified as the student's plan allows. Present levels and the student's postsecondary goals, not grade, decide fit.
- Baseline
- Give one practice set before studying and score it. Ask the student what score they need to pass and set the practice target with them.
- Tips
- Use the real study materials so practice matches the test. Ask the testing agency early about accommodations such as an oral test. Celebrate passing; it is a real-world credential.
- Limits
- Practice scores may not match the official test. Accommodation availability depends on the agency, not the school.

- Score only items the student attempted unless the goal defines a fixed set of items. Use the same denominator every session.
- Percent = numerator ÷ denominator × 100. Round to one decimal place.
- Record the support actually provided, even if the goal is independent performance.
