Pick the right bus from a timetable
When to use this goal
For transition-age students learning to travel who need to choose a bus or train that gets them there on time. Present levels in reading and time, not grade, decide the format.
- Baseline
- Give six practice trips with a needed arrival time and the real timetable or app, and score correct departure choices and leave-home times. Note whether errors are reading the table, reading times, or a.m. and p.m.
- Tips
- Use the local transit system's real timetables and app so practice transfers. Practice in class before real trips, then check choices on community outings. Pair with travel training and a safety plan for the trip itself.
- Limits
- Choosing the right departure does not cover boarding, transfers, or safety on the trip; those belong to travel training. Schedules change, so check them before each real trip.

- Record up to 6 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
