Check and fix clothing before leaving the restroom
When to use this goal
For students who leave the restroom with a shirt tucked into underwear, a fly open, or clothing twisted, and are then corrected in front of peers. Present levels from discreet observation decide fit. This is a dignity goal: the check happens at the mirror, not by an adult in the hallway.
- Baseline
- Across 10 restroom visits, a staff member notes discreetly as the student comes out whether clothing was in order or fixed at the mirror. Count clothing that was already in order as correct.
- Tips
- Teach the check as a habit every time, not only when something is wrong. Use a private signal, never a public correction. A three-picture card (zipper, shirt, back) is enough for most students.
- Limits
- Observation must respect privacy; adults do not watch inside the restroom. Does not address toileting skills.

- Record up to 10 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
