Check the forecast and pick an outfit

9-12, 6-8OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For teens who dress the same way whatever the weather or the day's plans and are working toward getting ready without a parent's check. Fits once the student dresses without help. Present levels and the OT's observation of the routine, not grade or age, decide whether this template fits.

Baseline
For two weeks, have the family log the weather check and the outfit chosen, and check at arrival whether the clothes fit the day. Agree in advance on what counts as a fit, such as a coat when it is below a set temperature.
Tips
Respect the student's style; score only whether the outfit fits the weather and plans, not taste. Write the family's own rules into the chart (for example, a jacket under a set temperature). For a special event, practice choosing the evening before.
Limits
Relies on family logs for the home part. Does not measure dressing motor skills. Some students run warm or cold; adjust the chart to their comfort.
