Check store hours before a trip

6-8, 9-12OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For students who plan trips with staff and arrive at closed places, or who cannot tell if a store is open. Present levels in telling time and reading days of the week decide fit; hours may come from a door sign or a map app.

Baseline
Use 8 hours listings or signs with a given time. Score whether the open or closed answer and the closing time were both right.
Tips
Teach a.m. and p.m. and day ranges (Mon to Fri). Map apps show open now; teach reading the full hours too, because apps can be wrong. Link to trip planning in transition goals.
Limits
Holiday hours vary. Does not measure travel time to get there before closing (see fn-fa-066).

Original IEP Atlas template based on general measurement principles; not copied from any goal bank. ID fn-fa-038.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during a community trip, given a store's posted hours and the current time and day, the student will read the posted hours and say whether the place is open now and when it closes independently in at least 7 of 8 opportunities, across 3 consecutive weekly sessions, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected weekly, during trip planning or community trips.

Baseline: 2 of 8 opportunities.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Opportunity (trial) recording gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Functional Academics.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.
