Write a phone message with all the parts
When to use this goal
For older students in office or reception jobs, or at home, who answer calls but cannot pass on a clear message. Present levels in writing or typing short notes and in listening to brief speech decide fit.
- Baseline
- Score 3 recorded practice calls on the rubric. Score each part 2 for complete and correct, 1 for partly right, 0 for missing.
- Tips
- Recorded calls let the speed and clarity be controlled. Teach asking the caller to repeat or spell. Real office jobs at school make good practice.
- Limits
- Listening and memory needs may limit accuracy with fast callers. Does not measure phone answering manners.
