Sort lunch waste at the recycling station
When to use this goal
For students who drop all lunch waste into one bin or stand at the station unsure where things go. Fits once the student can carry their tray to the station. Present levels and observation of the chore in a real setting, not grade or age, decide whether this template fits.
- Baseline
- Watch 3 lunch periods and count the items sorted into the right bin. Use the school's own bin labels, since rules differ between districts.
- Tips
- Score the first 5 items each day. Real photos of the school's milk carton, wrapper, and tray on the bins help most. Lunch is short, so keep the data quick.
- Limits
- Local recycling rules change; update the labels. Does not cover taking bins out at home.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
