Arrive at the nurse for scheduled medicine

When to use this goal

For students who take medicine at school and whose nurse has to call the classroom each day because they do not come. Present levels in telling time, reading a schedule, or using an alert decide fit. The nurse gives the medicine; the goal is only the student's arrival at the scheduled time.

Baseline
Use the nurse's log for 10 school days: did the student arrive within ten minutes of the scheduled time without being called. Note days the schedule changed.
Tips
The criterion is every scheduled time because missed doses matter; the nurse still calls if the student does not come. Agree with teachers on a quiet exit. Change alerts when the medication schedule changes.
Limits
The nurse's plan and the student's health plan take priority; this goal never replaces the nurse's follow-up. Does not teach anything about the medicine itself.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, at the medication time written on the student's schedule, with a nurse pass in the binder, the student will leave class at the medication time with the pass and arrive at the nurse's office independently in 10 of 10 opportunities, across 2 consecutive two-week periods, as measured by direct observation collected daily, from the nurse's log, summarized every ten school days.

Baseline: 4 of 10 opportunities.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Direct observation gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about School-Related Independence.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.
