Respond to a vibrating watch bathroom reminder

When to use this goal

For students who need reminders to go on time and are ready to move from an adult's spoken cue to a private device reminder. Base the choice on schedule data and the student's interest in a watch or similar device. A private reminder suits older students who find adult cues embarrassing.

Baseline
Set the watch to the current schedule and record for a week what the student did after each reminder: went, silenced it and kept working, or did not notice. Check that the vibration is strong enough to notice.
Tips
Teachers agree in advance that this student may go when the watch vibrates. The student helps choose the device and the reminder pattern. Score each reminder as acted on within the agreed window or not.
Limits
A device reminder only works if school rules allow it in every class; arrange this in the plan. Not for students who cannot yet use the toilet on their own once they arrive.
