Put on gloves with each finger in place

PK, K-2DurationTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For young students who cannot get their fingers into glove holes or mittens on, so they go out cold or wait for an adult while the class leaves for recess. Fit depends on a timed trial with the student's own gloves, not age.

Baseline
Time from picking up the first glove to both gloves on for three days, and note which fingers go into the wrong hole. Gloves that are too small or very stiff make the task much harder; talk with the family about the gloves.
Tips
Mittens are a good first step. Laying the glove flat with the fingers pointing away is an easy routine to teach. Recess time is limited, so speed matters here.
Limits
Seasonal; data come only in cold months. Does not include coats and zippers (see mt-fm-006).

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during the recess dressing routine with the student's own gloves, the student will complete putting on both gloves with each finger in its own hole independently within 1.5 minutes, on 4 of 5 consecutive recess days, as measured by duration recording collected daily during recess dressing in cold months.

Baseline: 4 minutes.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Duration fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Duration recording gives duration data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Fine Motor Skills.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
