Run the bases in order during kickball

K-2, 3-5OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For students who kick the ball but then run the wrong way, skip bases or keep running when they should stop. Present levels in game play, not grade, decide fit. Applies to kickball, tee-ball and other base games.

Baseline
Score the student's first five times on base during two games: did they run to the right base and touch it, and stop or go as the play called for? Note which errors come up most.
Tips
Every time on base counts as one opportunity. Colored markers that match a picture of the field help students who need a visual. A peer base coach is a natural role that keeps the game moving.
Limits
Does not score kicking or fielding. Game pace varies with the class; probe in the same kind of game. Decisions about tagging up and force outs are beyond this template.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during a kickball game in PE after the student kicks the ball, the student will run to first base, touch it, and move on to the next base in order or stop on the base independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, on 3 of 4 observed game days, as measured by direct observation collected weekly during base game units.
