Make a plan with a peer to do something together
When to use this goal
For secondary students who have friendly exchanges but never move to planned shared time (sitting together at lunch, a club, a game after school). Base the choice on the student's own wishes. Plans can be made in person, by message, or with a device.
- Baseline
- Interview the student and family about current peer plans in and out of school. Observe 3 or 4 social times for any plan-making and note whether the student proposed, responded, or neither. Identify peers who respond warmly to the student.
- Tips
- An opportunity is a social time with a willing peer plus an upcoming event or free period to plan for. Score correct when the student proposes a plan with at least what and when, and confirms the answer. The peer's yes is not required; a clear plan proposal is the skill. Facilitators can set up opportunities around school events. Families can report plans made outside school.
- Limits
- Opportunities are infrequent and depend on peer willingness; monthly counts suit this goal. Reported plans from the student may be optimistic; confirm where possible. Plans outside school raise safety and family considerations the IEP does not control.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, during a social time with a familiar peer they have talked with before, the student will propose a specific plan to a peer (what, when, where) and confirm the peer's answer independently in at least 3 of 4 opportunities, across 2 consecutive months, as measured by direct observation collected monthly, counting observed and reported plans.

- Record up to 4 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
