Try a peer's suggestion or explain another plan
When to use this goal
For students who ignore or reject peers' suggestions during group work, leading to arguments or the student working alone. Present levels decide fit. A response can be spoken, written, or typed.
- Baseline
- Record 5 peer suggestions during group work and what the student did: tried it, explained another plan, ignored it, or argued. Run a role-play to see if the student can respond when calm.
- Tips
- Trying the suggestion and offering a reasoned alternative both count. Disagreeing is fine; the goal is to keep the exchange going. Teach peers to make suggestions kindly too.
- Limits
- Peer suggestions are not evenly spread; observe longer group tasks. The goal does not measure whether the final plan was good.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
