Ask club members about their projects

When to use this goal

For students who attend a club (robotics, art, gaming, chess, music) and work alone next to members without talking to them. Present levels decide fit. Questions can be spoken, signed, typed, or from a device.

Baseline
Have the club leader or a staff member tally questions to peers during 2 or 3 meetings. Ask the student which members they would like to talk with and what they want to know.
Tips
Count each question aimed at a member about club work. A question during a game counts. Club leaders can help by pairing members on tasks. Keep adult presence light so the club stays a peer space.
Limits
Data collection by club leaders can be uneven; a simple tally card helps. The goal does not show whether the student finds the club worthwhile; check in with the student.

Criterion

Number of times a defined behavior occurs during a set observation period.

Sample numbers. Replace them with the student's data.

Keep every observation the same length.

Criterion wording

Data collection

Each occurrence of a clearly defined behavior is tallied during a fixed observation period.

Mastery rule

How many measurements must meet the criterion.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during a 45-minute school club meeting chosen by the student, the student will ask a club member a question about their project, idea, or part of the club activity independently at least 3 times per club meeting, across 4 consecutive club meetings, as measured by frequency recording collected weekly.

Baseline: 0 times per club meeting.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Frequency fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Frequency (event) recording gives frequency data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Peer Interaction.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
