Give a container to an adult for help

PK, K-2OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For children who struggle with a closed container or a toy that stops, and either give up or cry, but do not yet bring it to a partner. Fit depends on present levels; children who already say or sign "help" are ready for sl-ec-018.

Baseline
Set up 10 help situations across a few sessions and record what the student does: gives, tries alone and quits, cries, leaves, or gives after a cue. Note the support level each time.
Tips
Help right away and name it ("Help, open") every time. A give counts when the student directs the item to the adult; pushing it across the table toward the adult counts too. Mix in a few easy containers so the student is not frustrated by every opportunity.
Limits
This goal builds a first help request; the spoken, signed, or picture word "help" is a later goal. It is not a goal about waiting or frustration. The template does not prescribe a program.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during play, given a clear container with a preferred item inside and a lid the student cannot open, the student will hand or push the container or toy to the adult to request help independently in at least 8 of 10 opportunities, across 3 consecutive sessions, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected 3 times per week.
