Explain own interest inventory results
When to use this goal
For students who have taken a career interest inventory but cannot say what the results mean or whether they agree with them. Present levels in reading and expressive language, not grade, decide whether the summary is written, spoken or built with pictures.
- Baseline
- Score a summary written right after the first inventory, before any discussion. Note whether the student can say what an area means; many students repeat the label without knowing it.
- Tips
- Results are a starting point, not a verdict; disagreeing with a result for a good reason earns full credit. Feed the jobs named into fn-tr-001 (job-match reflection) and tn-ce-003. Keep the results in the student's career portfolio.
- Limits
- Interest inventories depend on reading level and on what the student has experienced; low exposure limits results. The rubric scores the explanation, not the quality of the inventory.
