Research local employers in an interest area
When to use this goal
For high school students with a career interest who do not know which local businesses hire for it. Present levels in web searching, map use and reading decide whether employers are found by the student or chosen from a list.
- Baseline
- Score one sheet with the map app only. Note whether employers found are real hiring sites or general web results.
- Tips
- Travel time matters for students who will not drive; include transit routes. Employers on the sheet are good candidates for job shadows (tn-ce-030) and applications later.
- Limits
- Hiring status changes quickly; the sheet records options, not openings. Research skills shown here may need practice to carry over to new interest areas.
