Check the balance before a planned purchase

9-12OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For students with their own account or prepaid card whose cards have been declined or who have overdrawn. A short habit that prevents fees; present levels decide fit, not grade.

Baseline
Observe 6 planned purchases. Score correct only when the student checks the balance before reaching the register and the decision matches the balance.
Tips
Teach the difference between available and current balance if the bank shows both. The family sets the amount that triggers a check.
Limits
Pending purchases can make the balance look higher than it is; teach a small cushion amount.
