Refuse gift card payment requests on the phone
When to use this goal
For young adults who answer calls from unknown numbers and would follow directions from a caller who claims to be a company, an agency, or a relative in trouble. Present levels in phone use decide fit, not grade.
- Baseline
- Run 5 role-plays with different stories (tax office, utility shutoff, family emergency, prize). Score correct only when the student refuses, ends the call, and reports it.
- Tips
- No real company or agency asks for gift cards, so the target is every call. Teach that hanging up on a real caller by mistake is fine; they can be called back through the official number.
- Limits
- Role-plays are calmer than real pressure calls. Builds on, and does not replace, the community-safety scam call goal.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
