Rate own work with a three-face scale

K-2, PKOpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For young students who rate every piece of work as great or every one as bad, and who can choose among three face pictures. Present levels decide whether the rating is about effort, finishing, or neatness; pick one and keep it.

Baseline
For one week, have the student choose a face after one task a day before the teacher shows theirs. Record matches and whether mismatches lean high or low.
Tips
Keep the rating about one thing the student can see, such as how much was finished. Rate before showing the teacher's choice. Celebrate a matching not done rating, then help the student finish.
Limits
Young children may pick the face they think the adult wants; hide your choice until theirs is made. Matching does not measure the work itself.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, after finishing a center or seat-work task, when the student and the teacher each choose a face (all done, some done, not done), the student will choose the face that shows how much of the task was finished, matching the teacher's face choice independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, on 4 of 5 observed days, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected daily.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Opportunity (trial) recording gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Self-Monitoring.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
