Signal all done after a task

PK, K-2OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For preschoolers who push materials away, leave, or cry when finished with a task, because they do not yet have a clear way to say they are done. Present levels in communication and the student's AAC system decide fit.

Baseline
Record 10 natural endings across routines over 3 days: did the student signal all done in any clear way before leaving or pushing materials away.
Tips
Honor the signal right away so it works for the student. Pair it with a finished bin so the routine has an end. The same signal works for breaks and requests to stop.
Limits
The goal teaches a signal, not task completion; a student may signal all done early. That is information for the team, not a failure.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, at the end of a table task or puzzle, when the last piece is in, the student will say, sign, or touch the all done symbol when finished independently in at least 8 of 10 opportunities, on 4 of 5 consecutive data days, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected daily.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Opportunity (trial) recording gives opportunities data.
