Ask a coworker instead of the job coach
When to use this goal
For students who ask the job coach every question at a site where coworkers and supervisors are the real long-term supports. Present levels in communication decide whether a question card or device message is used.
- Baseline
- Record the next 5 work questions and who the student asked. Questions to the job coach count as missed opportunities once a coworker has been named.
- Tips
- Talk with the coworker first so they expect questions. Natural supports are what keep a job after the job coach leaves.
- Limits
- Depends on coworkers being available and willing. Does not cover asking for clarification (fn-voc-010), only whom to ask.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, during a work-based learning shift, when the student has a question about the work and a named coworker is nearby, the student will ask the named coworker or supervisor the question and follow the answer independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, across 3 consecutive data collection periods, as measured by direct observation collected at each shift, summarized weekly.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
